Heath Nock
Heath Nock is a contemporary Australian painter based in Lake Macquarie, New South Wales. Raised in a traveller family moving between regional showgrounds, his work is deeply influenced by experiences of transience, observation, and life on society's fringes.
Nock's paintings combine objects, childhood memories, cartoon motifs, and found ephemera in thoughtfully arranged montages, exploring themes of belonging, displacement, and identity. Humour and subtle defiance underpin his approach, challenging conventional notions of value and taste.
Self-taught, Nock brings an intuitive yet rigorous approach to painting, blending traditional painterly techniques with contemporary graphic elements. His recent works have evolved towards a more gestural, expressive style.
In 2023, Nock received the Guy Warren Emerging Artist Award. His work is held in collections including Parliament House Sydney and exhibited widely across Australia.
